About Le Chevalier D'Eon

Le Chevalier D'Eon (also known as Chevalier in Japan) is an anime series produced by Production I.G, directed by Furuhashi Kazuhiro. It is based on a historical fiction novel of the same name by Ubukata Tow, which in turn is based on the life of the historical figure, Chevalier d'Eon.

The story begins in 18th Century France, when Lia de Beaumont's corpse is found inside a casket floating on the river Seine. Her younger brother, d'Eon de Beaumont, takes it upon himself to investigate her mysterious death. In the process, he and his comrades discover the secrets of the royal family, among many other intrigues underlying France, Russia, and Great Britain.

About Lia

WARNING: This section is NOT spoiler-free.

Overview
Lia de Beaumont was a member of the Secret du Roi; a secret organization created by the King of France. She served in the Secret du Roi alongside Durand, Maximilien Robespierre, and Comte de Guercy, and her loyalty to the King and to France was undeniably strong. She is eventually murdered, but her body does not decompose due to the fact that her blood had been replaced with mercury. Her soul, seemingly bound to the earthly realm by her own thirst for vengeance, finds a vessel in the form of her own younger brother, d'Eon de Beaumont.

Why Lia?

I chose to create a fanlisting for Lia because I think she's an admirable character who is intelligent, loyal, beautiful, and much more besides. She also earned additional points for advocating equality for women and for being a formidable swordswoman. I love women who are strong/tough without resorting to being more masculine than feminine. :p

Site Name

The site's name, Le Chevalier Femme, means "The Female Knight". I just thought it suited her and served well as a sort of play on the series' original title. I had to ask a friend of mine who knows how to speak French to translate the title properly for me, otherwise I would've named it "La Femme Chevalier", which is incorrect according to her.
